1/700 Chuyo carrier kit from Aoshima model number 04521

The Aoshima 04521 kit reproduces the Japanese carrier Chuyo at 1/700 scale, emphasising the ship's profile and deck arrangement. It is aimed at modellers who prefer historically faithful naval subjects and detailed finishing.

Part of the Water Line Series, this kit is intended for use in shore or fleet dioramas. The moulding shows fine detail and the assembly benefits from deliberate construction and tidy painting to bring out the ship's features.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1/700
  • Assembly Required: Yes
  • Paint and Glue: Not Included
  • Material: Plastic
The kit supplies basic deck and hull parts; many modellers opt to add aftermarket photo-etch railings or rigging to increase realism at 1/700 scale.
Aoshima's moulds present crisp surface detail and deck fittings appropriate for the scale, though careful painting is required to highlight shallower features.
Use a magnifier, fine tweezers and minimal glue when attaching tiny components. Pre-painting some subassemblies can make final assembly cleaner.
Display on a waterline base or among other 1/700 fleet ships gives context. Consider a clear dust cover or cabinet to protect delicate railings and small details.
