This 1/12-scale plastic model kit faithfully reproduces the 2004 Yamaha YZR-M1 and is intended as a finely detailed display piece in Tamiya's motorcycle series.
The 2004 YZR-M1 program targeted better traction and chassis response, adding a revised twin-spar aluminium frame and an inverted swing arm along with refinements to the 990cc liquid-cooled inline-four. The season included a significant rider transfer which had an impact on competitive results that year.
The assembled model is approximately 172 mm long. The compact inline-four engine and surrounding drivetrain are modeled for visual accuracy, and the side and seat cowlings are removable after build to permit engine display. Tyres come moulded in synthetic rubber to represent slicks, and the kit employs 2.5 mm poly caps to simplify damper assembly and hold body panels. Cartograf decals for rider numbers 46 and 11 are supplied without cigarette markings.
An accurate scale representation of the 2004 Yamaha YZR-M1 for modellers who want display-quality detail and removable panels to show the engine.
