The 1993 Monte-Carlo Rally victory by Didier Auriol put the Celica GT-Four RC in the spotlight, overcoming competition from Lancia, Ford, Subaru and Mitsubishi and demonstrating its rally capability.
Mechanically, the Celica GT-Four RC is powered by a 2-liter, liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder DOHC turbocharged engine rated at 299 HP and 45.9 kg/m of torque, with a six-speed gearbox handling gear changes.
Its electronically controlled torque-splitter helps distribute drive between wheels for improved traction on variable surfaces, a key advantage in rallying.
Tamiya's kit reproduces the 1993 Monte-Carlo champion with accurate moulding of the engine bay and cabin. Finished touches include rubber-like tyres and waterslide decals to mirror the car's original livery.
