The Tamiya 31317 model recreates the Japanese Light Cruiser Tama at 1/700 scale. Tama, the second vessel of the Kuma-class, took part in World War II operations around the Aleutian Islands during 1942 and 1943. This kit captures the ship's look during the invasion of Kiska, including the distinctive white and dark gray camouflage that differentiated her from other ships in the Imperial Japanese fleet.
With service history that includes engagements such as the Battle of the Komandorski Islands, Tama is a compelling subject for naval modellers and historians. The kit delivers accurate lines and surface detail suitable for shelf displays or historical study.
Included are finely moulded hull and superstructure parts, selectable armament options and a metal weight for flotation when creating water dioramas. Waterslide decals provide the correct wartime camouflage, and pictorial instructions support a methodical build. The completed model measures 230mm in length, reflecting careful scale reproduction.
