The Shiratsuyu-class addressed the balance problems of earlier designs, and Harusame, entering service in 1937, had upgraded anti-aircraft capability. The Tamiya 31403 kit portrays this ship in 1/700 scale with refined surface detail suitable for display and research-minded modellers.
Built to improve on contemporary destroyer performance, the class carried changes such as a triple 25mm mount supplanting a rear turret and an additional 25mm installation at the bridge. The kit reproduces the 12.7cm gun turrets and torpedo launchers with clear moulding, offering a precise fit for a rewarding assembly.
When assembled the model measures 157mm in length, providing a compact museum-style piece. The kit includes waterslide decals for accurate markings, metal components to aid hull balance, and pictorial instructions to assist the build process.
