The Tamiya 1/700 German Heavy Cruiser Prinz Eugen kit reproduces a significant WWII warship in precise plastic scale. Prinz Eugen, a member of the Admiral Hipper class, is well known for its wartime roles and is a popular choice for naval modelling projects that emphasise authenticity.
Constructed by Germaniawerft in Kiel, Prinz Eugen displaced north of 14,000 tons and was fitted with four twin 20.3 cm main turrets. The vessel played a role in the battle that sank HMS Hood and later engaged HMS Prince of Wales, before participating in Operation Cerberus - the bold Channel Dash of 1942.
The kit can be assembled to represent either the 1941 Rheinubung outfit or the 1942 Cerberus configuration, accounting for the increased anti-aircraft armament used during the Channel Dash. At 303 mm in finished length, the model balances compact scale with a level of detail aimed at experienced hobbyists.
