The Panzerkampfwagen IV was central to German armour in World War II, with production figures over 8,000. The early Ausf.H built on earlier designs, adding protection and minor mechanical changes while retaining core systems.
The Ausf.H kept the Maybach HL120TRM engine and upgraded to the SSG-77 transmission to cope with additional weight from added armor and ammo. These changes reduced top speed to around 38 km/h but improved survivability in combat.
This variant is fitted with the long 75 mm KwK40 L/48 main gun and a pair of 7.92mm MG34 machine guns. Schurzen side skirts were introduced to help defeat shaped-charge attacks.
Tamiya reproduces the Panzer IV Ausf.H Early Version in 1/35 scale with over 280 parts in tan plastic, rubber tracks and a range of exterior accessories including towing cables and tools. The kit offers separate suspension pieces and optional panels so builders can choose display options.
