Tamiya 35389 1/35 French Light Tank H39 - kit briefing

The Tamiya 35389 kit renders the French Light Tank H39 in 1/35 scale for modellers focused on period accuracy. The subject covers a pre-war design that served in 1940 and was later adapted by German forces.

Historical context and upgrades

Originating as an upgrade to the H35 before World War II, the H39 received enhancements by 1939 including a 120hp engine and an L/33 37mm gun, fitting the needs of reconnaissance and cavalry roles. Several H39s were captured or modified by German units during the conflict.

Parts, fit and construction tips

The assembled model is 138mm long and 56mm wide at 1/35 scale. The turret uses slide molding for accurate contours and simplified assembly. Track runs are provided in one-piece straight sections that can be positioned to show realistic upper run sag.

Included extras cover variant fittings: cupola parts, visor plates, engine grille, idler wheels, suspension bogies and an antenna base, so you can build a French or German variant. The set comes with two crew figures to enhance vignette displays.

Presentation and collector appeal

Metal chain links for the French configuration are supplied and two marking choices plus a full-colour painting guide support authentic finishing. It makes a solid choice for compact displays or as part of a larger collection.
