High-Precision 48P Spur Gear

The SG-4878S is a 78-tooth 48P spur gear intended for D-MAX series dual clutch (slipper) assemblies used in 1/10 scale RC models. It is offered as a replacement or tuning part where a 48P spur is required, preserving the tooth count while allowing precise slipper engagement adjustments and predictable driveline characteristics.

For installation, confirm 48P compatibility with the pinion and slipper unit, set a proper gear mesh to avoid accelerated wear, and adjust the slipper preload to suit vehicle mass and motor power. Clean assembly areas and inspect all mating surfaces and bearings to ensure smooth rotation before final tightening.

As part of tuning, switching to a 78T spur changes the effective ratio relative to other tooth counts, which will influence acceleration and top-end behavior when combined with slipper settings and motor timing. Make measured changes and perform controlled test runs to balance performance and drivetrain life.

Compatibility

Compatible with D-MAX series dual clutch (slipper) assemblies that use 48P spur gear specifications.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
After running, inspect the teeth for chipping or uneven wear, check for debris between teeth, and ensure the gear remains true on the hub. Replace if damage is evident.
Keep gear mesh correct, avoid contaminated environments, service bearings regularly, and avoid sustained high loads without adequate slipper slip to protect the teeth and hub.
You may need to tweak slipper preload to suit the altered gearing characteristics; use small adjustments and monitor drivetrain temperatures and behaviour during short test sessions.
