Introduction to Tamiya Pla-Paper

Plaid-Paper by Tamiya is a thin modelling sheet that combines paper-like workability with plastic toughness, at a 0.2mm thickness and B4 size (364x257mm). Packed as three sheets, it is suited to trims, small panels and finishing work on RC models.

How to Cut and Fix Pla-Paper

Cutting is straightforward with scissors or a sharp hobby knife to produce precise shapes for overlays or repairs. For gluing, Tamiya cement is the preferred choice; other model adhesives may work but should be tried on a scrap first.

Painting, Pens and Surface Prep

Pencils and ballpoints work well for marking guidelines, and the material will accept Tamiya spray colours as well as enamel or acrylic paints. Proper surface prep and thin paint coats help achieve crisp, clean detailing.

Pla-Paper is designed mainly for cosmetic detailing and indoor use; long-term outdoor exposure may degrade the finish, so avoid using it for load-bearing exterior components.
Lightly scuff the surface, apply primer, then use multiple thin paint coats for best adhesion and an even finish. Allow full drying between coats.
Bonding to polycarbonate can be challenging; adhesives that chemically weld polycarbonate may be required, or use mechanical fixes or tape to avoid damaging the shell.
Use a sharp blade and score gradually for radiused cuts, or cut slightly oversize and finish with fine sanding for clean, smooth curves.
