Matte Finish Paint for Modelling

Tamiya XF-1 Matt Black is a compact acrylic formulated to give a true matt finish for modelling projects. The 10ml bottle contains water-soluble acrylic resins, making it compatible with both brush and airbrush techniques. It offers good coverage and works on styrol resins, Styrofoam, wood and the majority of model plastics.

Application Advice

For airbrushing, thin with Tamiya thinners such as 81020, 81030, 81040, 81520 or 87077 to improve flow and evenness. Thin sparingly and check results on test parts before applying to your model.

Is this paint suitable for fine detail work?

Yes. XF-1 can be used for fine details with a small brush or fine airbrush setup, especially when applied in thin layers for control.

Can I use household water to thin or clean up?

You can use tap water for brush cleanup since XF-1 is water soluble, but use recommended Tamiya thinners for airbrushing to maintain spray performance.
