Model shock damping oil overview

Arrowmax am-210040 Silicone Shock Fluid is supplied in a 110ml bottle with a nominal 500cst viscosity for use in model car and buggy shock absorbers. This product is a clean silicone oil intended for shock maintenance and performance tuning and is not for any full-scale vehicle application.

The fluid's purpose is damping control: altering viscosity changes compression and rebound response inside threaded or cartridge-style shocks used on electric and nitro RC cars and buggies. A 500cst grade typically yields a moderate damping characteristic, favouring steadier rebound without overly stiff compression on many setups.

Installation and handling are the same as standard shock service: remove old oil, inspect pistons, rods and seals, then refill to the recommended level for the shock. Perform work on a clean bench, use correct caps and rods, and seat pistons to avoid air pockets. Dispose of used fluid in line with local waste requirements.

Tuning practice suggests altering a single parameter at a time—oil viscosity, piston configuration, or spring rate—so you can measure effects on roll, pitch and traction. Take temperature and runtime into account as they will influence damping feel during tests.

The 500cst fluid is appropriate for most threaded and cartridge shocks used on electric and nitro RC cars and buggies; always check your shock maker's service notes for recommended viscosities.
Follow local hazardous or chemical waste guidelines: do not pour into drains. Collect used oil in a sealed container and hand it to an approved disposal facility or recycling point.
Check shocks after a few runs when you first change oil grade to ensure there are no leaks, foam or unexpected damping shifts; regular inspections help catch wear early.
