Technical notes on differential damping

Arrowmax am-210059 is a silicone differential fluid supplied in a 59ml bottle at a nominal viscosity of 12,000cst, for use in scale R/C model differentials. The fluid provides damping inside gear or ball-type diffs where silicone oils are chosen to control slip, traction transition and steering characteristics.

From a tuning perspective, the viscosity figure controls the rate at which the diff transfers torque between wheels under load. Increasing cst raises coupling and slows slip, which in turn affects corner exit grip and overall chassis balance. This single-viscosity product offers predictable mid-to-high damping for both electric and nitro models.

Recommended service steps: replace the fluid if diff performance becomes inconsistent or during scheduled maintenance, fully remove the old fluid, refill to the level advised by the differential or chassis maker and reassemble following the manual. Allow the fluid to distribute inside the unit before completing setup checks.

Storage and handling guidance: keep the bottle closed, store upright in a cool dry area away from heat, avoid skin contact and ingestion, and dispose of used fluid in accordance with local waste rules for lubricants.

The thicker 12,000cst oil increases coupling, causing the diff to transfer drive more readily between wheels and producing a slower slip transition, which alters traction delivery at corner exit.
It is suitable for sealed gear-type and most ball diffs when silicone oil is specified; always follow the diff maker's guidance on viscosity and fill level.
After refilling, rotate and load the diff gently to help the oil settle, then run controlled cornering tests to evaluate the change before full-speed use.
Collect used oil and dispose of it according to local regulations for lubricants; do not pour it down drains or into the environment.
