Aluminium outer portal knuckle housing for scale models

This RC-scale aluminium outer portal drive housing is intended for AXIAL SCX10 III JEEP WRANGLER platforms and is supplied by GPM as part number SCX3021A. The component replaces the outer knuckle arm case on either front or rear portal units to support the inner gear train.

Produced from 6061 T6 aluminium, the housing provides a more rigid mounting surface than the factory plastic outer case and includes stainless steel cap head screws for secure attachment. It is suitable for modellers who want a durable outer case that helps maintain consistent gear mesh during slow technical crawling.

Fitment advice: the housing fixes to the existing knuckle arm layout using the supplied 2.5x10 stainless steel cap head screws. No specialist tools are required beyond standard hex drivers, and you should check gear preload on reassembly to avoid binding.

Is this suitable for off-road scale trails?

Yes. The aluminium outer case increases stiffness around the portal knuckle to better preserve gear mesh on slow, technical off-road sections.

Can this be fitted without removing the axle from the chassis?

In many cases you can fit the housing with the axle in place, but access may be easier if the hub or wheel is removed. Always check gear mesh and preload after installation.
