Lower gearbox protection plates

This GPM aftermarket mount set provides stainless steel bottom protection for the AXIAL SCX24 Deadbolt scale crawler. The shields cover the underside faces of the front and rear gearbox housings to reduce sand and fine rock ingress and to absorb light knocks encountered during trail sections.

The hardware set includes the protector plates and the fasteners required for installation so no additional parts are needed: Gear Box Protector - 2pcs, Stainless Steel Button Head Screw 1.4x4 - 4pcs, Stainless Steel Button Head Screw 1.4x10 - 4pcs, install mount - 2pcs. All metal parts are stainless steel for corrosion resistance when exposed to air and moisture.

Installation advice: the plates are designed to sit close to the gearbox bottom and attach at existing chassis points or the supplied mounts. Fit using the supplied screws and apply careful torque control on plastic housings to prevent cracking. The guards mainly defend against abrasion and rock strikes while keeping ride height and geometry largely unchanged.

Is extra sealing needed after fitting?

The protectors reduce debris entry but do not seal the gearbox. If you often run in water or mud consider additional sealing measures for the gearbox itself.

Can I use the original screws instead?

The kit supplies the correct stainless screws; swapping to other screws is not recommended unless they match size and thread engagement to avoid fitting issues.

Will these work on aggressive rock crawling?

They are aimed at trail and light-scale crawling. For heavy rock work you may want thicker or differently profiled guards to suit your driving style.
