The Hobby Boss HB-80234 is a 1:72 injection-moulded kit of the Bell P-39 N Airacobra, produced for modellers who want a compact, historically referenced aircraft for display.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra first took to the air in 1939 and served in early World War II roles. Bell placed the Allison engine inside the fuselage and transmitted power to the propeller through a long shaft beneath the cockpit. On some marks a 37 mm T9 cannon fired through the propeller hub. Production reached about 9,584 aircraft, and many were supplied to the Soviet Union under lend-lease agreements. The real aircraft featured side-door cockpit access.
This kit reproduces the P-39 N's external contours and feature cues at 1:72 scale. Building requires careful work with small components, accurate joining of fuselage halves to reflect the driveshaft fairing, and correct handling of the nose cannon area. The moulded panel lines and control surfaces provide reference points for paintwork and weathering.
For authentic finishes, consult archival photographs and specialist references to select correct markings and camouflage patterns for US or lend-lease operators. Because the mid-fuselage engine is largely internal, prioritise cockpit and nose detail to enhance display accuracy. Sequence paint and decal application to match the chosen operator and unit markings.
A tidy 1:72 scale P-39 N Airacobra kit that will sit well in historically focused collections and small-scale displays.
