Short-body shock set optimised for handling

The XRAY 338002-K aluminium shock absorber set is a 2-piece 20.8mm short-body kit intended for NT1 series 1/10 on-road RC cars. The shorter body and shaft combination moderates suspension movement to deliver more repeatable up-and-down travel, helping drivers maintain composure through mid-corner transitions and exit phases.

Precision pistons come in both 2-hole and 3-hole configurations and three bore sizes: 1.0mm, 1.1mm and 1.2mm, providing a range of flow rates to adjust damping behavior without replacing main components. Pistons are manufactured from white Delrin to preserve dimensional stability and stiffness for long-term damping consistency.

Shock barrels are CNC-machined from Swiss 7075 T6 aluminium with surface hardening to improve lifespan. External fine threads allow accurate ride height and preload adjustments, and compact membranes ensure smooth, repeatable damping across different track conditions.

Specifications

Fit this set to refine handling where controlled, shorter travel is required; experiment with piston selection and oil weight to tune entry grip and corner exit behavior.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some XRAY items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
They are designed for NT1 series geometry, but verify your specific trim's required eye-to-eye length and stroke. Differences in mountings between trims may require alternative hardware.
When replacing longer shocks with these short-body units, expect quicker transient response; reduce rear droop or tweak anti-squat to rebalance handling and avoid oversteer on corner exit.
Shorter shocks may slightly alter static ride height and roll characteristics. Check balance at ride height and adjust spring preload or sway setup to restore desired roll behaviour.
Use a single variable approach: change piston hole count first, then test at the same oil weight. Record lap times and handling notes to find a preferred combination for your track.
Both matter. Pistons set the basic flow profile while oil weight fine-tunes response speed. Begin with piston selection, then adjust oil grade to dial in final feel.
