Product overview — Futaba S3153 micro servo

The Futaba S3153 is a micro, digital high-speed servo developed for radio-controlled model applications where limited space and quick response are priorities. It is intended for use with Futaba radio control receivers and is appropriate for small electric aircraft and other light RC airframes.

Metal gears provide enhanced resistance to wear and deliver repeatable movement. Being a high-speed digital servo, the S3153 can draw elevated current under load; when using NiMH or LiPo batteries confirm that your battery and any regulator or BEC can meet the servo and receiver amperage demands.

Installation consists of securing the servo in place, fitting the correct horn and grommets from the accessory pack, connecting the control linkage, and plugging the unit into the desired receiver channel. The S3153 is not recommended for heavy-duty, high-torque roles such as large gliders or gasoline-engine aircraft.

The S3153 offers a compact, metal-geared digital servo option for light-duty electric models that need swift control inputs; ensure compatible power and avoid placing it under heavy mechanical loads.

At 4.8V the S3153 is rated at 0.11 sec per 60 degrees; at 6V it speeds up to about 0.09 sec per 60 degrees, improving responsiveness for crisp control inputs.
For multiple servos, use a battery and regulator or BEC rated to supply total peak current. A 6V setup can improve servo speed but requires adequate current capacity to avoid voltage drop under load.
Avoid binding linkages, undersized mounting holes and poor horn selection. Ensure the servo is mounted square and that forces act through the horn to prevent side loads on the output shaft and gears.
The S3153 uses a 5 mm output shaft diameter, which is compatible with many standard Futaba-style horns and commonly available aftermarket horn sets.
Replacement horns can be ordered through Futaba parts suppliers; typical part numbers include FUTM2038 for the standard horn and FUTM2005 for longer options.
