This is a 1/35 scale plastic assembly model of the German Tractor RSO/01, designed for modellers who build historically referenced display models.
Development of the RSO/01 took place during World War II to provide a light tracked tractor capable of traversing deep snow and poor roads on the Eastern Front. The vehicle used a front-mounted 70 hp V8 petrol engine transmitting power to the rear sprockets via a propeller shaft. Early production vehicles had a rounded pressed-steel cabin; later production raised the cabin floor to accept wider snow-capable tracks. The RSO was used as an artillery tractor and general transport in demanding terrain.
The model captures the external appearance adopted after spring 1943, including the raised rounded cabin and distinct bed features. Injection-moulded parts depict optional elements such as a canvas frame, a wood-effect cargo bed, and side snow-track fittings. Visible mechanical items like the drive shaft, differentials and exposed gear locations are represented for visual accuracy without suggesting internal maintenance access.
Construction proceeds by assembling multiple sprues and fitting straight-section track segments supplied with the kit. The cargo bed can be finished either with a canvas cover or as an uncovered wood-pattern bed, and the cabin front is configurable with or without shutter panels. Clear windows come with masking stickers for painting, and the decal sheet includes two marking schemes from 1944.
An accurately researched 1/35 external representation of the RSO/01 that supplies realistic detail and assembly choices for display-oriented enthusiasts and collectors.
