This item is a 1/72 injection plastic model kit of the F-14B Tomcat, intended to represent the VF-103 Jolly Rogers 2002 scheme within Hasegawa's aircraft series.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat originated in the late 1960s as a carrier-based air superiority and fleet-defence fighter for the US Navy. The F-14B variant adopted enhanced engines and avionics relative to early production aircraft, and it remained in service through the 1990s and into the early 2000s. VF-103, the Jolly Rogers, operated the Tomcat with distinctive skull-and-crossbones insignia that became a defining visual feature during that era.
As a kit, this release is aimed at modellers concentrating on correct external lines and period-correct markings. The 1/72 scale is well suited to display cabinets and small dioramas. Using photographic references and squadron records will assist in matching the 2002 paintwork and insignia. Assembly follows standard injection-plastic modelling techniques and may require additional reference material for authentic weathering and finish.
A compact and display-friendly F-14B representation, well suited to collectors and modellers who prioritise external finish and accurate squadron markings.
