The Hirobo HI0404506 damper collar is the locating and securing piece used in the shock assemblies common to Eagle, Freya, EX and SX helicopter models. It keeps the damper shaft aligned so the shock unit provides repeatable compression and rebound behaviour.
As a mechanical item, inspect the collar for wear, correct seating and any signs of damage rather than looking for electrical compatibility. On reassembly, ensure the collar bears against the housing evenly, the shaft has no lateral play, and the original retention method is reinstated to prevent loosening in service.
Replacing a worn collar restores consistent behaviour in the damping stack and makes oil and preload changes more predictable. Storing a few spare collars will reduce repair time at practice sessions and events.
