The North American F-51D Mustang is celebrated for its service in World War II and its continued utility during the Korean War. Originally the P-51, it was fitted with the Packard V12, a licensed Rolls-Royce Merlin, which enabled speeds nearing 700 km/h. The F-51D was armed with six 0.5 M2 Browning machine guns and excelled in both escort and ground attack roles in later service.
This Italeri 1/72 kit provides moulded parts that capture the Mustang's silhouette and control surfaces. Builders can expect a tidy assembly process using standard plastic cement, resulting in a display-ready model that complements other Korean War aircraft in a collection.
