The Messerschmitt Me 262 holds significance as the first operational jet fighter, with development work commencing in April 1939 and a first flight on 18 July 1942. Powered by two Jumo 004B engines, the type could reach about 870 km/h at 6,000 m, had a service ceiling close to 11,400 m and a range near 1,050 km.
The Me 262 A-1a/U5 was an intended heavy-armed variant designed for six MK108 cannons, though only a lone prototype was constructed in that form. This kit gives modellers the chance to study the aircraft lines and experimental armament layout in miniature.
At 1/48 scale the Hobby Boss model assembles to 221 mm in length and 260.6 mm in width, faithfully representing the original proportions. The parts are injection-moulded in quality plastic and the build requires glue; careful fitting, filling and paintwork will produce the best results for collectors and display builders.
