The Messerschmitt Me 262 is recognised as an early operational jet fighter that influenced aircraft design in its era. Development by Messerschmitt began in April 1939, and the type achieved its first flight on July 18, 1942. Powered by two Jumo 004B engines, the Me 262 reached speeds up to 870 km/h at 6,000 meters, had a service ceiling of 11,400 meters and an operational range around 1,050 kilometers.
The Me 262 A-1a/U5 was engineered to carry six MK108 cannon, although that layout reached prototype stage only once. This model kit lets enthusiasts examine the characteristics of that specialised variant.
Hobby Boss's 1/48 scale rendition of the Me 262 A-1a/U5 presents accurate lines and part detail suitable for display. The assembled model dimensions are 221 mm long and 260.6 mm wide. Assembly requires glue and steady handling of delicate components to achieve a clean finish.
