The F4U-5N Corsair is a late-production variant that closed out the era of high-performance piston fighters. Developed from the F4U-4, it first flew on December 21, 1945 and featured a lengthened nose for the 2300hp R-2800-32W engine along with an automatic turbo supercharger. Only 233 examples were manufactured as wartime demand dropped.
Hobby Boss has modelled the F4U-5N with attention to the altered cockpit and canopy silhouette. The kit's parts reflect the aircraft's distinctive profile so careful builders can produce an accurate scale replica.
This Hobby Boss F4U-5N kit contains over 200 components that detail the engine bay, undercarriage and cockpit. Finishing the model with accurate paints and subtle weathering will highlight the fine moulded detail and create a convincing display piece.
