The T-40 occupies an important place in Soviet armoured development, and this 1/35 kit from Hobby Boss reproduces the vehicle's defining traits. It emphasises the torsion-bar suspension and welded, boat-shaped hull that represented an advance over the T-37/T-38 family.
The tank's 12.7mm DShK heavy machine gun provided greater firepower than the earlier 7.62mm DT, and the reinforced hull improved survivability. This kit contains more than 300 parts so modellers can assemble an accurate representation of the original vehicle.
The kit uses multi-directional slide moulding and includes delicate photo-etched components to enhance surface detail. The 182 individual track links are a central part of the assembly, demanding careful fitting for realistic track sag and alignment.
