This machined alloy shock body is supplied as an aftermarket replacement for the HPI Savage 21 and carries the part number SAV13170/SB. It is intended to replace tired plastic or aluminium shock cylinders and to be used inside the suspension assembly only.
Constructed from machined aluminium, the body offers increased cylinder stiffness and enhanced heat dissipation compared with standard plastic components. As a replacement housing it renews worn units and supplies a steady platform for adjusting shock oil and internal components to influence damping.
Fitment follows normal shock service practice: remove the shock from the suspension arm, strip the cap and shaft, transfer or replace internals as necessary, fit the alloy body, then reassemble and refill with preferred shock oil. Check O-rings and seals for correct fit and replace any that show wear to prevent leaks. Once rebuilt confirm stroke and perform a low-speed leak check before full running.
From a tuning perspective, alloy bodies change heat transfer and structural stiffness relative to plastic bodies; this may alter temperature rise and damping feel over extended runs. Ensure compatibility with Savage 21 mounting points prior to competitive use.
