This 49T main spur is intended as a direct replacement for the HPI Savage 21 drivetrain and is moulded in Delrin for improved dimensional repeatability. It fits into compatible Savage 21 gearboxes as the primary spur gear.

The unit defines mesh with the pinion and has a direct effect on final drive engagement and drivetrain smoothness under load. Compared with ordinary nylon spurs, Delrin tends to deliver steadier friction characteristics and more consistent tolerances.

Installation is done in the usual Savage 21 fashion: remove the gearbox cover, check bearing alignment and shaft seating, slide the spur into place, set correct backlash and reassemble. While fitting, inspect the pinion and bearings and replace any worn items to avoid premature failure.
