Engine head fin heatsink for Savage

This fin heatsink is an external cooling accessory intended for HPI Savage 21, Savage 25 and Savage X 13 heads that share the same geometry. The gold fins expand the heat-dissipating area around the head to assist in managing temperatures during longer or harder runs without altering engine internals.

Compatibility covers only the Savage variants listed that use the common head profile. Before fitting, inspect the head profile and clearances beneath the body shell and near the exhaust and carburettor to prevent interference. The heatsink mounts to existing head fastener points as a simple bolt-on cooling aid for nitro engines.

Fitting guidance: fit the heatsink straight onto the engine head, align fins to benefit airflow, and reuse the factory head screws or studs where applicable. Confirm there is no contact with the muffler or body panels throughout full travel, and ensure glow plug access is maintained. After several runs, recheck fastener torque and clearances since thermal cycling can change seating.

Performance note: this part provides passive cooling only and does not change timing, porting, or fuel requirements. Use a temperature probe or practical observations to evaluate its effect and adjust body venting or muffler routing as part of your overall cooling strategy.

It adds passive cooling useful during extended runs but is not a substitute for proper engine tuning. Use it alongside correct venting and muffler placement for best results.
Some exhausts or header shapes may reduce available clearance. Check the area around the muffler and exhaust path before final installation.
Expect modest improvements in head temperature under load; results depend on airflow, body venting and running conditions rather than the heatsink alone.
Standard hand tools for head screw removal and refitting are sufficient. Avoid over-torquing fasteners and check thread condition before reuse.
