The Italeri 1/72 FW 190 D-9 offers an accurate small-scale representation of a late-war fighter that was adapted for higher altitude engagements. The kit reflects the D-9's role in both air superiority and ground attack missions.
During World War II the FW 190 D-9 was upgraded with the Junkers Jumo 213A engine to improve performance at altitude, enabling operations above 7,000 meters and standing up to Allied types such as the P-51 Mustang.
Typically fitted with two 20mm cannons and two 13mm machine guns, the D-9 saw action in roles including the Operation Bodenplatte raids. Production was in the order of 650 to 700 aircraft and only four survive in preservation today.
Builders will appreciate the kit's detailed mouldings and decal options which support authentic finishes. The 1/72 scale result is compact yet detailed, ideal for cabinets or combined historical displays.
