The Lockheed Martin F-104 Starfighter is a notable Cold War design, instantly recognisable for its slender fuselage and tiny, sharply tapered wings. First flown in the late 1950s, it served with the USAF and many NATO nations as a high speed interceptor. The F-104A variant performed interceptor duties while the F-104C was adapted for fighter-bomber tasks during the Vietnam conflict. The Italeri 1359S kit recreates the aircraft lines faithfully, with emphasis on the thin trapezoidal wing planform and the signature General Electric J-79 turbojet installation.
