The Italeri 1450 reproduces the Aeritalia G-222 with careful attention to its wartime role and design origins. Giuseppe Gabrielli developed the G-222 in the late 1960s to provide the Italian Air Force with a nimble tactical transport. It is smaller than the Lockheed C-130 Hercules and engineered for short-field performance on unimproved strips, using twin turboprops to achieve speeds around 480 km/h.
The kit also nods to the later C-27J Spartan upgrade, introduced from 2005 with Rolls-Royce AE2100-D2 engines that increase top speed beyond 600 km/h while improving performance. The platform can carry up to about 68 troops or above 11 tonnes of cargo and uses modern avionics for complex operations.
Scale modellers will enjoy the detail and fit of the Italeri 1/72 parts, which support accurate assembly and display. The finished model makes a compact but convincing representation of a tactical airlifter for cabinets or modelling shows.
