The Vought F-8E Crusader made its mark as a carrier fighter capable of supersonic speeds, driven by a Pratt & Whitney turbojet with afterburner. With performance surpassing Mach 1.8, the aircraft was a notable innovation of the 1950s. It entered service with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, replacing the F7U Cutlass and remaining active through the Vietnam War period.
Dubbed "The Last of the Gunfighters," the F-8E combined four 20mm cannons with missile options, giving it both classic gun armament and modern capability. The Italeri kit presents the Crusader's lines and armament in 1/72 scale, suitable for display collections and detailed builds.
