The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter remains a striking example of Cold War jet design, recognised for its narrow fuselage and high performance. Launched in the late 1950s, the type served in many air forces for decades. The TF-104G two-seat trainer was developed from the fighter series to support pilot transition to the combat-ready F-104G and F-104S types.

The TF-104G variant does not include the 20 mm cannon or the centreline stores pylon used on the single-seat versions, but it retains the same General Electric J79 turbojet, offering similar flight characteristics. This made it a staple in NATO training squadrons across nations like Belgium, Norway, Spain and Italy.
