The BAE Hawk T. Mk.I, created by Hawker Siddeley and later produced under BAE Systems, entered service as an advanced jet trainer for the Royal Air Force in the late 1970s. Designed to succeed the Folland Gnat, the Hawk is powered by a Rolls-Royce Adour turbofan engine and achieves speeds around Mach 0.84.
The Hawk T1A introduced a centreline Aden 30 mm gun pod option and the capability to carry AIM-9L Sidewinder missiles, expanding the aircraft's role beyond training. Its operational flexibility and low operating cost prompted adoption by many air forces and high visibility with display teams.
The Italeri 2813 kit reproduces the Hawk T. Mk.I silhouette with fine moulded detail at 1/48 scale. The parts and decals support an accurate finish, making this kit appealing to modellers who enjoy detailed painting and marking work. Completed examples present well in single or multi-aircraft displays.
