The Italeri 3110 Leonardo da Vinci Helicopter model kit represents a conceptual aircraft sketched by Leonardo around 1480 in the Codex Atlanticus. The drawing outlines an "aerial screw" roughly five metres in diameter, covered in starched linen and intended to be driven by four men turning the structure manually.
Leonardo's idea was never realised in his day, yet it reveals his curiosity about mechanics and lift. The Italeri 3110 offers a faithful interpretation of that drawing, making it a noteworthy item for collections focused on the origins of flight and Renaissance engineering.
The kit is moulded in PS plastic and requires glue and paint to finish. Careful preparation, paint layering and subtle weathering will help convey the original wood and fabric appearance. When complete, the model works well as an educational display or as a centrepiece in a historic aviation grouping.
