Line infantry advanced level in close purchase, often preceded by light infantry devices like Chasseur, Tirailleurs or Voltigers. These light products harassed the enemy to disrupt their lines, or even to interrupt their type of need targeting officers, drummers, and standard bearers. Probably the Imperial Guard had light infantry products in its ranks.
