The Battle of Stalingrad is one of the most significant engagements of World War II, noted for its fierce urban combat and strategic consequences. From the summer of 1942 the city and surrounding river approaches became the scene of intense fighting as aerial and artillery bombardment demolished large sections of Stalingrad.
German forces pressed to capture industrial targets, including a major tractor plant that supported tank production needs. The Soviet counterattack in November 1942 encircled enemy formations, leading to the surrender of the German Sixth Army in early 1943 and setting the stage for the Soviet advance into Eastern Europe.
This Italeri 1/72 diorama kit provides parts to recreate ruined structures and battlefield details from the siege, suitable for historical displays and museum-style modelling projects.
