Custom Kyosho Optima 4WD Body Shell

The Kyosho OTB245 comes unpainted and is intended for the Optima 4WD chassis. This plain body gives modellers a chance to create bespoke liveries and detailed paintwork while fitting cleanly to the Optima frame when prepared correctly. Does the OTB245 require trimming to fit?

Minor trimming is common to achieve a perfect fit, especially around wheel arches and mounting posts. Test-fit before final cutting to keep symmetry.

Can I use standard hobby paints on this shell?

Stick to paints marked safe for polycarbonate. These give the best adhesion and flexibility; conventional enamel or acrylics not rated for polycarbonate may peel or crack.

Any tips for a lasting finish?

Mask carefully, apply several thin coats, and cure fully between layers. Use a clear protective coat sparingly and avoid hard impacts to prolong the paint job.
