The Kyosho OTW136 Carbon Fiber Front Shock Tower is a direct upgrade for the Optima Mid series. Fabricated from 3mm carbon fiber, it offers improved rigidity and lower weight than standard FRP components, helping to stabilise suspension geometry during aggressive driving.

How Carbon Improves Suspension Response

Carbon fiber reduces unwanted flex at the shock mounting points, which gives clearer input to the dampers and more predictable handling. Fitting the Kyosho OTW136 will help drivers tune with greater precision and maintain consistent behaviour across runs.

Fitting and Setup Recommendations

Ensure fasteners are tightened uniformly and inspect the fitting after initial use to spot any movement. Combine the tower with matched, quality dampers and consider small spring or oil adjustments to account for the increased chassis stiffness.

You can use existing shocks, but you may want to re-evaluate spring rates and oil to balance the stiffer mounting. Many users find small changes produce better handling after installation.
Routine cleaning to remove grit and periodic checks of mounting bolts are usually sufficient. Avoid over-tightening which can damage the fibre around bolt holes.
Replacing FRP with a 3mm carbon tower often reduces front-end weight slightly and increases stiffness, so you may notice a change in steering feel that can be tuned via shocks and sway settings.
