Technical overview and handling

The Yokomo YOKRP-080 Linear Ultra Shock Spring 3.0 is a suspension spring for RC shock assemblies where a linear rate is required. The 3.0 identifier specifies the spring version, and it suits hobby applications such as touring and pan cars that rely on consistent spring performance.

Use this spring when you need consistent compression and rebound without a progressive increase in stiffness. Keeping the spring rate constant simplifies the evaluation of damper oil, piston choices, and preload adjustments because the spring contribution stays uniform through travel.

Standard installation applies: remove the shock cap and shaft assembly, slide the existing spring off, and fit the new spring over the shock shaft and onto the retainer. Clean spring seats and retainers, then confirm matched preload and free length between left and right shocks after fitting.

Tuning notes: replacing springs is a core method to change chassis balance and roll behavior. A firmer linear spring increases resistance through the stroke to reduce body roll and strengthen mid-corner support, while a softer linear spring improves compliance and traction on low-grip surfaces. Make measured preload changes alongside spring swaps to fine tune ride height and initial response before altering damper valving.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Confirm your shock shaft diameter and retainer type match the spring seating. Proper seating is key to correct function and to avoid binding.
Measure free length and set identical preload on both shocks. Carry out a brief track test to ensure ride heights and roll behavior are symmetric.
Check that the spring seats squarely and that the shaft and retainer are free of debris. Verify the spring does not rub on the shock body through travel.
