This 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit reproduces the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 late model and is issued as a research-based addition to the Tamiya 1/48 aircraft range.
The Messerschmitt Bf109 was a key German single-engine fighter during World War II, manufactured in great numbers and employed across many fronts. The G-6 type, introduced mid-1943, is marked by the Beule nose bulge and the Erla Haube reduced-frame canopy for improved visibility; from August 1943 onward several airframes carried 21 cm rocket launchers beneath the wings. The G-6 remained in operational service until war's end.
The kit recreates late-model external details from documentary sources. Newly shaped engine cowlings replicate the Beule bulge and right-side air scoop and are engineered to be finished open or closed and exchanged. A new clear Erla Haube canopy is included and may be fitted either open or closed. New parts also cover the canopy centre rearview mirror and its cover, the main landing gear bay doors with removed cloth covers, and wing-mounted 21 cm rocket launchers with support pylons. The instruction manual includes a color painting guide and decals for four marking schemes, one representing the aircraft flown by Hermann Graf. The model can be assembled as an early model, a late model, or a mixed configuration. Fuselage length and wingspan are given in the specifications below.
A carefully researched 1/48 offering that reproduces late-model Bf109 G-6 external characteristics with multiple build options, suitable for collectors and advanced modellers.
