Soft compression spring for R12 and GT models

The Yokomo R12-37SS is a soft-rate replacement spring designed specifically for X-style shocks fitted to R12 and GT series 1/10-scale RC chassis. This tuning spring softens initial compression and alters rebound behavior so you can refine chassis balance while keeping your existing shock pistons and oil settings.

Fitting the R12-37SS follows common shock service steps: remove the cap and retainer, take out the current spring, seat the R12-37SS correctly on the shaft, then reassemble and set preload. Use appropriate shock tools and a tidy workspace to avoid misplacing small components.

On-track benefits from the soft spring usually include:

  • Improved mechanical grip on slick surfaces through added initial compliance.
  • Better absorption of minor bumps and curbing for steadier mid-corner behavior.
  • Compatibility with softer oils or reduced preload to help dial in roll and turn-in traits.

Select this spring when a smoother, more progressive weight transfer is desired and after anti-roll bar and ride-height adjustments are in place.

Yes. Mixing rates is a common tuning approach to balance understeer and oversteer. Try small rate differences and test lap times and handling to find the best combination.
Ensure the spring seats squarely against the retainer and that the spring ends do not catch on the shaft or cap. Correct seating prevents odd bind and ensures predictable behavior.
