Tamiya 71111 Mechanical Pig — small gearbox walker with head-shake
The Mechanical Pig forms part of Tamiya's Robocraft STEM range and is presented as a constructible walking model driven by a compact gearbox and motor that produce forward movement plus an oscillating head motion. The body and head use pink semi-transparent plastic so interior parts are visible while the exterior retains a playful finish.
The build procedure is accessible for experienced hobbyists and supervised groups who know basic snap-fit and screw assembly techniques. Supplied items include the compact gearbox, DC motor and a reverse switch to allow bench testing in both directions. A small flag accessory and a manual screwdriver are provided; power is from a single R04/AAA/UM4 battery (sold separately).
Operator notes: the model is designed for operation on level, smooth surfaces. Avoid steep inclines, heavily textured paving and thick carpeting which interfere with the walking mechanism. Use this kit to study compact gearbox layout and small linkage design rather than for competitive modifications.
