Convert Your 960-08 into the 966 Configuration
The Serpent 903326 upgrade kit contains everything required to convert a 960-08 to the 966 configuration. The comprehensive set features a machined chassis plate, aluminium and carbon rear-end components, a purpose-built brake assembly, and a full complement of over 170 steel allen screws together with the new bearings needed for proper assembly.
Engineered 7075 T6 Chassis Plate
The 966 chassis plate is manufactured from aluminium 7075 T6, an aerospace-grade alloy chosen for its mix of strength and light weight. CNC machining provides chamfered edges to prevent binding mid-corner. The plate includes countersunk holes for allen screws, an engine cooling pocket, and clearly marked positions for engine mount screws and rear brackets, while allowing for an optional brass front plate or carbon fibre insert to alter stiffness.
Low-Centre Brake Construction
The upgrade fits a low-mounted brake assembly to help lower the centre of gravity. Spring-loaded brake plates slide on polished steel shafts for refined braking feel, and a ball-raced, hard-anodised brake cam applies force evenly using larger pins seated in the aluminium bracket.
Accurate 2-Speed Shaft Bracketry
CNC-anodised aluminium brackets locate bearings precisely for the 2-speed shaft. These brackets support the ball-raced rear anti-roll bar and are compatible with carbon fibre side brackets to enhance torsional stiffness.
Rear Axle Support and Belt Access
Anodised, CNC-machined aluminium rear axle supports increase rigidity and simplify routine work. The design makes belt tensioning straightforward and grants rapid access to the rear shaft, pulley and belt; eccentric inserts provide three positions for belt tension adjustments.
Sensible Suspension Brackets and Tower
The anodised aluminium suspension brackets secure the lower rear pivot pins. Included 4mm carbon fibre suspension brackets and a rear shock tower offering four shock-angle positions give clear tuning choices for a variety of surfaces.
