Short setting springs - designed for Mini-Z MB-010

The Kyosho MBW012S Setting Spring Set (Short) is a compact spring kit intended for Mini-Z MB-010 style shocks, supplied in a set of colour-coded stiffnesses so models can be balanced without replacing shock bodies.

These short springs follow the Mini-Z short spring profile and are coded by colour to indicate progressive rates: Purple (super soft), Green (soft), Silver (medium), Gold (hard). The set commonly includes the super soft spring fitted as the default item.

Installation is straightforward: remove the shock cap and spring retainer, slide on the selected short spring, then reassemble the shock. Short springs typically alter ride height and initial preload versus full-length springs, so check rebound and droop settings after making changes.

For setup strategy, use softer colours to improve grip at lower speeds and firmer colours to control roll at higher speeds. Change one rate at a time and compare behaviour on a stable surface to isolate handling effects.

MBW012S is supplied as an official Kyosho spare for Mini-Z suspension tuning and is intended for model use in hobby and track environments.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Kyosho items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Moving from Purple (super soft) to Gold (hard) progressively reduces body roll and increases steering responsiveness, but may lose some mechanical grip. Test increments to find the best compromise.
The MBW012S is supplied as a setting spring set containing multiple colour-coded short springs for tuning purposes.
Start with the softest rate to check baseline grip, then move one colour stiffer and re-test. Continue until handling balance or lap times stop improving.
Measure static ride height and inspect droop travel after fitting a new spring. Adjust ride height shims or preload as needed to restore target travel.
Yes. Softer rates suit drift and low-grip touring, while firmer rates help on high-speed touring layouts. Choose rates according to desired sliding or grip characteristics.
Yes, MBW012S is an OEM Kyosho spare intended for Mini-Z series maintenance and tuning.
