Overview and provenance: Sturmgeschutz III Ausf. E in 1:72

Trumpeter 07258 is a 1:72 scale plastic kit depicting the German Sturmgeschutz III Ausf. E, presented as a compact tracked assault-gun model intended for display and reference collectors.

The Sturmgeschutz III was conceived as an assault gun and later adapted to defensive and anti-tank duties. Early Ausf A examples evolved through Ausf B, C, D and E, with the short 75mm StuK 37 L/24 fitted to these early types. Alkett produced the early A-E series, completing the last Ausf E examples in early 1942. These vehicles remained in operational service until replaced by later designs.

This kit emphasises the Ausf. E external proportions and visible fittings. It includes light grey plastic parts for the hull and upper structure, and the tracks are supplied as two full-length rubber-style strips. Decals are provided for a single-colour German RLM 02 grey scheme. Parts count and model dimensions are suitable for a neat bench build at this scale.

A compact 1:72 rendition of the early Sturmgeschutz III Ausf. E that supplies a tidy parts set and period decal options for display-oriented modelling.

The Ausf. E served initially as an assault gun and subsequently took on defensive and tank-destroyer duties until replaced by later variants with upgraded armament.
Differences are mainly incremental updates to fittings and production details while retaining the short 75mm StuK 37 L/24 gun across the early A-E series; Ausf. E reflects late early-series production features.
Photographic references and period technical manuals help with accurate markings; use RLM 02 references and period photos to place subtle weathering and stowage correctly.
Keep the track strips flat and away from heat or direct sunlight before assembly; long-term storage rolled tightly may lead to set and fitting issues at the time of build.
