The Caterham Super Seven JPE is an iconic lightweight sports car and this 1/12 kit from Tamiya recreates the 1993 flagship with careful attention to scale detail. The assembly process mirrors real automotive build techniques to deliver an authentic modelling experience.
The model includes aluminium bonnet and side panels finished in fluorescent yellow to reflect the original visual impact. Metal fittings such as the grille, roll bar and exhaust pipe are supplied, along with a rubber tonneau and cloth six-point harness for interior fidelity.
Aluminium panels are fastened to a space frame using screws, reproducing the JPEs assembly logic. The kit also provides a compact suspension layout and a layered engine build to keep the construction absorbing for scale enthusiasts.
Die-cast suspension arms with deDion tubing are combined with coil springs and dampers mounted on metal brackets, allowing for genuine movement. The rack and pinion steering is replicated so the front wheels turn in concert with the steering wheel.
The included Vauxhall engine model features a rubber timing belt, sponge-style air cleaner and metal exhaust. Small piped connections and ignition wiring like the oil feed are modelled to increase the engine bay's realism.
