In 1971, Bernie Ecclestone hired Gordon Murray to create a fresh F-1 vehicle to revitalize the Brabham F-1 group. Murray dedicated to designing a concise, lightweight vehicle which was simple. The effect had been the BT42. This automobile showcased a characteristic pyramid monocoque, a DFV engine mounted on the aluminum framework and radiators mounted inside front wing for enhanced cooling performance.
