This 1/12 scale plastic assembly static display model reproduces the Yamaha YZR500 raced by Norifumi "Norick" Abe, presented as a high-detail kit focused on accurate external components and race fittings.
The Yamaha YZR500 was Yamaha's 500cc two-stroke racing machine family from the two-stroke era, pairing lightweight chassis concepts with compact high-revving 2-stroke multi-cylinder engines. The 1999 YZR500 campaigned by Abe featured a 2-stroke four-cylinder engine combined with a Delta box style frame designed to balance chassis stiffness and rider feedback on fast circuits.
The kit models visible external engineering and race-specific fittings rather than functioning internals. Engine parts are supplied as separate molded pieces to represent the 2-stroke 4-cylinder layout. The Delta box frame is constructed using the small screws provided, and removable screw fittings secure the bodywork and seat cowl so panels can be removed after final assembly. Front and rear slick tyres are modelled in solid rubber to improve authenticity, and the kit includes brake and ignition line details, a display stand, waterslide decals, and pictorial assembly instructions.
A faithful static reproduction for enthusiasts who prioritise accurate external detail and period-correct race fittings.
